Popularly known as the “Lady Superstar” of Indian Cinema, Nayanthara made her acting debut featuring in the 2003 Malayalam film ‘Manassinakkare’ while making her Tamil cinema debut in 2005 with ‘Ayya’ and Telugu cinema debut in 2006 with ‘Lakshmi.’ She has several accolades under her name, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu and the Nandi Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Goddess Sita in the 2011 mythological movie ‘Sri Rama Rajyam.’ Having acted in over 80 movies throughout her successful acting career, her track record has our readers wondering about her future movies and TV shows. 1. Mega 157 (January 2026)
Nayanthara will star alongside Chiranjeevi in Anil Ravipudi’s Telugu drama Mega 157. The story, penned by S Krishna, Ajju Mahakali, G. Adi Narayana, and Anil Ravipudi, is under wraps. Filming is underway, but we have yet to find out about the rest of the cast. The movie will be released in January 2026.
2. Toxic (March 19, 2026)
Written and directed by Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic’ is poised to be a high-stakes (Kannada) action thriller film that will explore the world of a drug cartel in Goa. Alongside Nayanthara, the film stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Darrell D’Silva, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Akshay Oberoi. Qureshi will play the villain. 3. Benz (TBA)
Nayanthara will star alongside Madhavan, Nivin Pauly, Samyuktha Menon, and Raghava Lawrence in Bakkiyaraj Kannan’s Tamil action movie ‘Benz.’ Penned by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Kannan, the undisclosed story will carry forward the LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). Filming is underway, and more details are awaited.
4. Mannangatti: Since 1960 (TBA)
‘Mannangatti: Since 1960’ is an upcoming Tamil period drama written and directed by Dude Vicky. It will star Nayanthara and Yogi Babu in lead roles. The creators have successfully ensured that the plot remains under wraps. The rest of the cast includes Gouri Kishan, Jeeva Subramanian, Devadarshini Chetan, and Narendra Prasath. 5. Patriot (TBA)
Mahesh Narayanan’s Malayalam film ‘Patriot’ stars Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Kunchacko Boban, Revathi, and Darshana Rajendran. Filming began in November in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and is ongoing. Filming is underway, and the movie will reportedly be shot across several locations, including Sri Lanka, Visakhapatnam, Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Abu Dhabi, London, Azerbaijan, and Thailand over a period of 150 days. A release date is awaited.
6. Hi (TBA)
Nayanthara is teaming up with actor Kavin for an upcoming romantic drama titled ‘Hi,’ to be directed by Vishnu Edavan in his directorial debut. While the plot is under wraps, the film is currently undergoing production. The cast also includes Kavin, Radhika Sarathkumar, and Prabhu. More details about the project, including a release date, are expected to be announced in the coming months.
7. Untitled Sarjun/Baradwaj Rangan Project (TBA)
Nayanthara is collaborating with director Sarjun KM (‘Airaa,’ ‘Blood Money,’ and ‘Burqaa’) and movie critic Bharadwaj Rangan for an upcoming film. Rangan has written the script, and the project is in the pre-production stage. This will be Nayanthara’s second venture with Sarjun after ‘Airaa’ (2019). Details about the plot, rest of the cast, and production are awaited.
8. Mookuthi Amman 2 (TBA)
‘Mookuthi Amman 2,’ the sequel to ‘Mookuthi Amman’ (2020), has begun filming. Helmed by Sundar C., the film will be Nayanthara’s maiden collaboration with him. It will show the titular goddess embarking on a new journey while fighting evil and protecting the righteous, and it is expected to be a rollercoaster of emotions. 9. Thani Oruvan 2 (TBA)
A sequel to the 2015 film ‘Thani Oruvan,’ ‘Thani Oruvan 2’ is an upcoming action thriller movie written and directed by Mohan Raja that will see Nayanthara and Jayam Ravi reprise their respective roles as Mahima and Mithran IPS. Mohan Raja is also cast. As per reports, shooting for the project was set to commence in early 2024. Thus, we can expect the movie to be released sometime in 2025, possibly in the first half. 10. Wikki6 (TBA)
‘Wikki6’, an action comedy film helmed by Vignesh Shivan, his sixth directorial, will feature Nayanthara as one of the lead characters, alongside Vijay Sethupathi and Pradeep Ranganathan. S.J. Suryah and Mysskin are also cast. The story shows what happens when a father and his son are smitten by the same call girl. Kamal Haasan serves as a producer. As of March 2023, the screenwriter Vignesh Shivan was reported to be working on the script for ‘Wikki6.’ At the moment, it is in the pre-production stage.
11. Dear Students (TBA)
Co-written and co-directed by debutants Sandeep Kumar and George Philip Roy, the Malayalam movie ‘Dear Students’ is set to star Nayanthara in the lead female role. Reuniting with her after the 2019 comedy-drama movie ‘Love Action Drama’ will be Nivin Pauly, who is also attached as one of the producers of the project. 12. Untitled Nayanthara/Arunraja Kamaraj Project (TBA)
The only news about this project, reportedly titled ‘Prince-Prince,’ is that director Arunraja Kamaraj and Nayanthara are coming together. Kamaraj directed ‘Kanaa’ (2018), ‘Nenjukku Needhi’ (2022), and the web series ‘Label’ (2023), all of which were well-received. An announcement of the film is expected to be made soon along with other details about production and release.
13. Baiju Bawra (TBA)
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Baiju Bawra’ is the remake of the 1952 Hindi romance musical directed by Vijay Bhatt. It follows Baiju, a young musician who challenges Mughal Emperor Akbar’s court musical maestro Tansen for a musical duel. This is so that Baiju can avenge his father’s death, for which he holds Tansen responsible. Nayanthara is reportedly in it alongside Kiara Advani and Vicky Kaushal.
