Union Minister for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi said on Monday that Muslims in the country are living peacefully and happily due to the reforms brought in by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said this while addressing a massive gathering after flagging off the BJP’s statewide Janakrosh Yatra on Monday evening in Mysuru, aimed at protesting the Karnataka government’s price hike policies.

Pralhad Joshi stated that Muslims across India are living peacefully and happily under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reforms. He added that even in Jammu and Kashmir, Muslims are now living in peace post-Article 370 abrogation — a reality Congress cannot tolerate.

He clarified that the Waqf Amendment Act would not harm any dargahs or mosques. Instead, Section 40 has been repealed to prevent the illegal acquisition of Waqf properties, ensure transparency in administration, and extend benefits to poor Muslims.

Joshi asserted that no matter who is in power, even if Congress’ forefathers return, they will still have to implement the Waqf reforms passed in Parliament.

Joshi said that even the Muslim community now sees the Congress as a party of lies.

He recalled Congress leaders warning of violence if Triple Talaq was abolished or Article 370 was repealed. Now, he alleged, they are spreading lies about the Waqf Amendment Act, misleading Muslims by falsely claiming it targets mosques and dargahs.

Criticising the Congress-led government in Karnataka, he expressed strong criticism, the government in the state which is increasing fees even for birth and death certificates, is a corrupt and exploitative regime looting the people.

He said: “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who claims to have presented the budget 16 times, has now made history by increasing the prices of 48 essential items.”

He listed hikes in the price of milk, alcohol, petrol-diesel, electricity charges, property registration and stamp duties, water taxes, garbage disposal fees, bus and metro fares, land records fees, and hospital bills, criticizing the government for increasing the cost of nearly everything, the Union Minister said, slamming the Karnataka CM.

Pralhad Joshi alleged that the Congress government, which came to power promising guarantees, is now collecting Rs 70,000 to Rs 75,000 crore from the public through increased taxes and charges.

He pointed out that while the government claims it is spending Rs 50,000 crore on guarantees, in reality, it is not even properly implementing these schemes. Instead, it is extracting double that amount from people through various means.
