‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actor Rahul Sharma reflects on how boldness is reshaping Indian television Television actor Rahul Sharma, who is currently seen playing the role of Anshuman in “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” has shared his thoughts on the changing nature of TV content. He pointed out that boldness on television is on the rise, with shows becoming more experimental and less restrained than before. Sharma shared, “There’s no doubt that boldness has increased in films, on OTT platforms, and even on television. But somewhere, it has also started giving people a false impression — that being bold automatically makes you likable or popular. That if you’re bold, people will praise you, follow you, and give you attention. But the reality is, this often leads to objectification, especially for young girls entering the industry. And the boys who are seeing this narrative are also developing a skewed perspective — one where they’re respecting women less and objectifying them more.” He added, “Content reflects society, but now society is also being shaped heavily by content. The constant exposure to certain themes, be it extreme boldness, fast relationships, or dysfunction in families, is influencing young minds. They start believing that what they see is the norm. Parenting has also shifted; soft parenting is more common now. Children are growing up in a very different emotional environment. They are less tolerant, lack resistance, don’t have patience, and honestly, they don’t always understand what truly matters. They're easily influenced and emotionally fragile.” When asked whether audiences today are becoming overexposed—particularly to personal and emotional content onscreen, Rahul Sharma said he believes we are overstimulated in every aspect of life, constantly surrounded by an overwhelming amount of content, visuals, and opinions. “We are overexposed to everything. That’s one of the biggest issues. We’re constantly bombarded with content, visuals, and opinions, and it’s too much. This overexposure is making us impatient and intolerant.” “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” which is produced under Rajan Shahi’s banner Director’s Kut Production, stars Rohit Purohit and Samridhii Shukla in the lead roles.

Gujarat assembly passes Industrial Disputes Act (Amendment Bill) 2020

The Gujarat State Assembly on Tuesday gave its nod to the Amendment Bill on the earlier passed Industrial Disputes Amendment Ordinance in July, which allowed industrial units having up to 300 employees to lay off its employees without getting prior approval of the government.

According to the 1947 law, prior government consent was required for industrial units above 100 employees, to lay them off.

The Assembly on Tuesday formally legalised and legislated the ordinance brought in by the Gujarat government on July 1, which was an amendment to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

According to the provisions of the current law, the factories and industrial units of up to 100 employees does not require government approval for carrying out layoffs or retrenchments.

The new bill proposed by Minister of labour and employment, DilipThakor, on the second day of monsoon session of 14th Gujarat state assembly relaxes this provision and raises it up to 300 employees.

Hence, a factory having less than 300 employees would not require government’s permission to lay off its employees.

According to the government, this amendment will allow the factory and industrial units to increase its production and encourage fresh investment in the state.

“I don’t understand how this amendment, which allows factories up to 300 employees to lay off its workers without getting approval of the government, will help in increasing its production. This is just to aid the industrial owners and in direct violation of workers’ interests. I strongly oppose this Amendment Bill and also suggest the government to bring in laws which are in the interests of workers, their health, their issues,” said Jignesh Mevani, the lone Independent MLA from Vadgam constituency.

Rain triggers inflows in 206 dams in Gujarat; 8 overflowing, 14 on high alert Gujarat continues to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall over the past several days, leading to significant water inflows into river systems and dams, particularly in Saurashtra and south Gujarat. As per the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an average rainfall of 15.04 mm was recorded across 159 talukas in the state in the last 24 hours ending Sunday evening. According to the official data released at 5 p.m. on Sunday, new water has entered 206 dams across the state, of which eight dams are currently filled to 100 per cent capacity and 14 are on high alert due to rising water levels. In its status report, the IMD noted that the Narmada dam currently stands at 389.96 feet, against a full reservoir level of 454.98 feet. The reservoir data further indicates that: eight dams are 100 per cent full, 26 dams have reached 70 to 100 per cent capacity, 22 dams are at 50 to 70 per cent, 57 dams are between 25 to 50 per cent and 99 dams are below 25 per cent capacity. In addition to the 14 dams on high alert, nine have been placed on alert, and 11 are under warning status, prompting state authorities to closely monitor the situation. The India Meteorological Department has also issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in seven districts: Banaskantha, Rajkot, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Navsari, and Valsad. These areas are expected to face intense showers and possible waterlogging. An orange alert is in place for a wider belt of 24 districts, including Kutch, Morbi, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha, and Surat, signalling heavy rainfall with the potential for disruption. Meanwhile, yellow alerts have been issued for Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, and Narmada districts, indicating a possibility of moderate to heavy rain. The IMD has forecast continued rainfall activity across Gujarat until June 28, urging citizens to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Authorities are on standby, and disaster response teams have been mobilised in vulnerable districts.
