This time, they presented the world premiere of the remarkable restoration of Shyam Benegal’s classic film “Manthan.” The restoration not only preserves the cinematic legacy of this acclaimed film but also showcases the exceptional performances of its cast, including the legendary Smita Patil.

“Manthan,” which means ‘churning’ in English, is a powerful film that delves into the socio-economic issues faced by farmers and the challenges of cooperative dairy farming in India. Released in 1976, the film was a ground-breaking collaboration between director Shyam Benegal, writer Vijay Tendulkar, and producer Dr. Verghese Kurien, who was instrumental in the White Revolution of India.
