Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor said Hindi films were being treated unfairly because of the present run of box-office failures, including ‘Shamshera’.

Speaking at a promotional media interaction for ‘Brahmastra’ on Wednesday, he said: “If a move does not work, it is only because the content has not worked.”

Obviously referreing to ‘Shamshera’, Ranbir said: “I will give my own examples and won’t speak for other films. I had a film release a few weeks back. I didn’t see anything negative. The film didn’t run at the box office because probably the audience did not like the film. Eventually, it is about the content.”

He added: “If you give a good film and good content … if people feel entertained of course they would want to go to the cinemas … experience different emotions, get moved by the characters, feel the different emotions, get entertained, have a great laugh, cry.”

‘Brahmastra’ is a trilogy from Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Astraverse’. The first instalment, ‘Brahmastra Part One: Shiva’, is set for release on September 9. It has an ensemble cast, including names such as Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy.

England trio of Moeen Ali, Dawid Malan, Chris Woakes and Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi were amongst the 14 internationals signings made by Sharjah Warriors for the inaugural edition of the International League T20 (ILT20) in the UAE. Other signings made by the Sharjah Warriors include Evin Lewis and Mark Deyal (West Indies), Noor Ahmad, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Naveen-ul-Haq (Afghanistan), Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Chris Benjamin and Danny Briggs (England), Bilal Khan (Oman) and JJ Smit (Namibia). From the signings, Kohler-Cadmore, Benjamin and Deyal are yet to play in international cricket. Moeen's signing comes as a surprise as many reports had suggested that he had agreed to be a part of Chennai Super Kings-owned Johannesburg team in South Africa's new T20 League, which is scheduled to be in a direct clash with ILT20 in January-February next year. "We just came to know. We will find out from the player," Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. The Sharjah franchise, owned by Capri Global, is expected to draft local UAE players in due course. Reliance Industries Limited-owned MI Emirates, Knight Riders group-owned Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Adani Sportsline-owned Gulf Giants and GMR-owned Dubai Capitals have already announced their squads for the ILT20. The inaugural edition of ILT20 will be played in a 34-match format across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, starting from January 2023. ILT20 will be in a direct clash with South Africa's T20 League, also scheduled to begin from next year. Both leagues will be operating in the time when Australia's Big Bash League (BBL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be on. Sharjah Warriors (till now): Moeen Ali (England), Dawid Malan (England), Evin Lewis (West Indies), Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan), Chris Woakes (England), Noor Ahmad (Afghanistan), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan), Naveen-ul-Haq (Afghanistan), Tom Kohler-Cadmore (England), Chris Benjamin (England), Danny Briggs (England), Mark Deyal (West Indies), Bilal Khan (Oman) and JJ Smit (Namibia).
